Meaning Behind the Tarot Cards Included in the Box of Shadows. Plus, ideas for using the stickers!

When you order the Box of Shadows: Halloween Edition, you will receive 5 Tarot Card stickers by Chicago artist, Yasmine Abed. She started these ink drawings during 2019’s “Inktober Challenge.” I was not the only one begging her to make a full deck and have them printed as cards. Yasmine recently announced that she will be completing the designs for her Tarot Deck this year, YAY!!! While we patiently wait for Yasmine to work her artistic magic, lets take a look at the 5 cards that we have chosen as the stickers in this set! EDIT: THEY ARE READY!! Check out the pre-order here:

WHAT DO THESE CARDS MEAN? KNIGHT OF PENTACLES: This knight thinks long term for the protection of his Kingdom. The card reminds us there is a need to be responsible and finish what we start while remaining trustworthy and reliable. DEATH: This card is often mistaken as negative but it is actually one of the most inspiring cards in the Tarot. It represents transition, telling us to accept change so that rebirth can come about. A major phase in life is ending so a new one can start. This card reminds us to leave the past behind and to focus on moving forward. THE HANGED MAN:

This guy suspended in air is not stuck or upset, he is just telling us that it is okay to suspend action sometimes. Something new is coming but we must have patience. This card reminds us to rest and reassess where we are at now and whether or not the actions we are taking will bring us to where we want to go. THE EMPRESS: She holds the power of Motherhood, bringing luxury and abundance. This card reminds us to connect with things we find beautiful and to bring happiness into our lives. Happiness can be found in the things we create or “birth,” weather that is children, a piece of art, a plan for the future or something else of beauty and positivity. JUDGMENT: This is another card of transition. It asks us to do some soul searching, to closely examine and even judge ourselves in order to heal. This card reminds us that by truthfully evaluating our past, our habits and actions, we can clearly see changes we need to make in order grow. Is it time to forgive and forget?

Take some time think about how these cards apply to your life right now! I even encourage you to journal about each one. FUN WAYS I USED MY STICKERS: 1. Make a bookmark... or a whole set of book marks! I used my Cricut to cut out a simple tag, adjusting it to fit the sticker. Each sticker is about 2.5 x 4.5 inches. Pop a sticker on the cut out and laminate it. Then, use a hole punch at the top to add a decorative chain or string. I used silver chain and added a couple beads to the end with jewelry wire. So simple and looks awesome! 2. Blank pillar candles can be found in a variety of colors at many dollar stores, grab one or a few and add your sticker to make a unique candle. Use it for meditation or just decoration, weather it is for Halloween Decor or matches your year round aesthetic, it is a great piece to have.

3. Make a mini art display! I used the stand that came in July’s “Give a Pal A Squeeze” Box and painted it black. I cut out a piece of cardboard a little larger than the sticker itself and covered it with gold vinyl to make a frame. Center the sticker on the gold cardboard and BAM! Instant framed art!
